Macadam pavement starts with 1 1/2 inch crushed granite which is leveled and rolled to make a very strong base.
The prepared base stone is coated with heated asphalt which binds the stone together.
Next a middle course of 1/2 inch stone is placed onto the asphalt layer and leveled and rolled. The prepared middle course is coated with heated asphalt.
Finally, a course if smaller chips are place onto the top layer of asphalt and rolled. This process creates a strong yet flexible pavement. The chips are available in different colors giving homeowners an opportunity to personalize and accent the appearance of their home.
